Go all out for your party celebration with a New Year’s party garland decorated in spiky bows! How cool is this and so easy to do! I found a bubble garland at the Pottery Barn, and, unfortunately, it is no longer available. But you can make your own using clear plastic ornaments and attaching them through the ornament tops to a long cord to hang.
You will also need:
Bowdabra
Bowdabra bow wire
2.5″ reversible wired ribbon
First, fold an 18″ length of bow wire in half and place in the Bowdabra, tucking ends under. Leave the ribbon on the roll creasing it leaving a five-inch tail, then twist and insert ribbon down into the Bowdabra.
Next, make a 5″ loop and twist down into the Bowdabra.
Now, continue to fold and twist ribbon making matching loops on opposite sides, down into the Bowdabra . . .
for a total of four loops on each side. Cut off the ribbon, leaving a five-inch tail. Then, scrunch down the loops using the Bowdabra wand.
While the bow is still in the Bowdabra, thread the two loose ends of the bow
wire through the loop, pulling tightly and tie in a knot at the back, gently
pulling the bow out.
For a festive look, cut a couple of the loops in half on each side. and dovetail the ends by folding the ribbon together and cutting at an angle from the fold down to the corner tip.
Then dovetail the ends by folding the ribbon together and cutting at an angle from the fold down to the corner tip.
You now have a lovely combination of spiky ribbon and bows for your garland!
Fluff the bows and spikes and tie onto the bubble garland!
Add Happy New Year’s and you’re all set to celebrate with an adorable New Year’s party garland.
