Hey everyone! I’m Simply Shalese, here to make an adorable holiday last minute gift with you guys! Today we will be creating some adorable and precious last-minute gift ideas just in time for Christmas. These ideas are so adorable and easy to do…and they’re perfect for everyone! Let’s get started!
5/8 in wide ‘Just for You’ ribbon from LaRibbons – 17 inches long (1 piece)
58 in wide ‘Just for You’ ribbon from LaRibbons – 20 inches long (1 piece)
Deco Mesh – 8 inches long (3 pieces)
Candy of your choice (I use Werther’s Original)
Mason Jar
Bow wire
Scissors
The first thing you’re going to do is place the deco mesh at the bottom of your mason jar. This will help lift the candy up higher in the jar. This will help you use less candy and still get a nice looking gift. You can substitute the deco mesh with tulle or tissue paper. Just be mindful that neither of these are as stuff as deco mesh and therefore, will not support the weight of the candy as well as the deco mesh.
Place as much candy in your holiday gift jar as you’d like. You can also use whatever type of candy you want. Once you have the desired amount, you can place the lid on your jar.
Now it’s time to add your bow!
The first thing I do is fold my bow wire in half and place it in the center of the Bowdabra. I usually use about 18 inches or so. Make sure you have enough to tie the bow at the end.
Start with your 20-inch long piece and fold it in half to find the center. Find your center crease and scrunch your ribbon with the wrong side facing up. I prefer to use a uniform scrunch so I fold the ribbon in half and bring the front and the backup. Then I place it down on the Mini Bowdabra.
Take one side of your ribbon and make a loop. The size of the loop depends on how large or small you want your bow. You can use the measuring tool on the mini Bowdabra to help ensure each loop. I decided to make my first loop about 2 inches wide. Then I scrunched the ribbon and placed it down on the Bowdabra. I repeat these same steps with the other side of the ribbon.
Use your wand to help scrunch everything together.
Repeat these steps with a 17-inch piece of ribbon. I used the same ribbon for both but you are free to use two different styles of ribbon if you’d like.
Give your bow one last scrunch and while the wand is in place you can adjust the bow as much as you’d like. Then remove the wand and bring the bow wire together. Bring the two open ends inside the looped end. While one hand is holding the bow in place, use the other hand to pull the bow wire taut. Then carefully remove the bow. Tie the bow wire in several knots.
This step is optional. You can ribbon cut the tails of your bow if you choose to do so. You can also cut the tails at a slant or diagonal. Both ways are precious so go with whatever fits you.
I’m going to use the excess bow wire that I left in place at the back of my bow. I’m going to bring it around the mason jar and tie it in a simple bow at the back of the jar. You do have the option of cutting off the excess bow wire and gluing the bow to the jar. I prefer tying the bow because that gives the option of saving the bow and reusing it at a later time.
And you are all done! It’s a cute and simple holiday gift but it shows you were thinking about them! Plus, who doesn’t like candy!
1 1/2 in wide stripped ribbon from LaRibbons – 34 inches long (1 piece)
5/8 in wide stripped ribbon from LaRibbons – 5 inches long (1 piece)
Deco Mesh – 8 inches long (3 pieces)
12 Red and White Candy Canes
6 Green and White Candy Canes
4 Chenille Stems
Red Shimmer Decor
Mason Jar
Scissors
The first thing you do is hang the candy canes around the rim of the jar. I alternated two red candy canes and one green candy cane. You can use whatever candy cane color/flavors you want. You can also use as many as you’d like. It’s completely up to you. Next, we’re going to add the red shimmer décor to the center of our holiday gift jar.
Roll your three pieces of deco mesh diagonally and scrunch them together. Use two of your chenille stems to tie the deco mesh together. Use scissors to curl the other two pieces of deco mesh and add them in as well. Then fold your bundle in half and place it in the center of your mason jar gift. You can add as much deco mesh and chenille steps as you’d like. Just have fun with it!
Now it’s time to add your bow!
The first thing I do is fold my bow wire in half and place it in the center of the Bowdabra. I usually use about 18 inches or so. Make sure you have enough to tie the bow at the end.
Fold the thicker ribbon in half to find the center. With the wrong side facing up, scrunch the ribbon in the center. I use a uniform scrunch so I fold the ribbon in half and bring the front and the back up. Then I place the ribbon on the mini bowdabra.
Take one side of your ribbon and make a loop. The size of the loop depends on what you want. You can use the measuring tool on your Bowdabra to help measure each of your loops. I made the first loop about 2 ½ inches wide. When you have the desired size of your loop, scrunch the ribbon and twist it before placing it down on the bowdabra. Repeat this step with the other side of your ribbon. If your ribbon is printed on both sides, you don’t have to twist the ribbon.
Once you have the first two loops in place, repeat the same steps making two more loops. This time when you make the loops, you don’t have to twist the ribbon because this will be your last loop. Scrunch everything together and adjust it as needed.
If you don’t have enough wire to tie around your holiday gift, don’t worry! All you have to do is cut off the excess bow wire that isn’t long enough and tie a new longer piece of bow wire around your bow.
Now it is time to add your center with your thinner ribbon. You have the option of gluing the ribbon on your bow while it is still flat or you can tie it in a knot. I decided to tie the ribbon in a simple know and then I placed it around the center of my bow. I tied it in another know at the back of the bow.
Now you can continue on with tying the bow wire around your gift. Tie it in a bow at the back of your mason jar. I used one of the candy canes to help anchor my bow in place. You can use candy canes that are all the same size or multiple sizes. It’s completely up to you. And you have an amazing Holiday last minute gift!
