Its cheer time in the fall and what better way to show your team spirit that with a fun team color ponytail holder. My fave team colors are red, blue and white but you can easily change up the colors for any team you have in mind.
This project is super easy and inexpensive. And Bowdabra makes it quick. So you can make enough of these cheer bows for the whole group!
First, gather your supplies and pre-cut the ribbon pieces.
Next, cut a piece of Bowdabra bow wire. Fold it in half and insert into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one end and two loose wires on the other. (This is your slipknot)
Now, on each 15” length of ribbon fold one end in half and cut towards the fold to create a dovetail.
Then, insert one color 15” ribbon strip into the Bowdabra leaving the dovetail end hanging down. Next, insert the other color ribbon into the Bowdabra leaving that dovetail end hanging down on the opposite side.
Next, bring the first ribbon tail over and form a loop to the 3-inch mark push into the Bowdabra.
Then bring the other ribbon tail over to form a matching loop on the other side and insert into the Bowdabra. The two opposite color tail will be hanging down.
Scrunch down with the Bowdabra wand.
Finally, insert the two loose ends through the loop and pull tight while the bow is still in the Bowdabra. Separate the ends, remove from the Bowdabra and turn to the back and tie a knot.
To finish take the small white (or your color 7/8” wide ribbon) and tie a knot. Adjust the knot so that it is on the center front of the bow. Use a dab of hot glue to adhere. Glue the ponytail elastic on the back, bring the ends of the white ribbon to cover the elastic and secure with additional glue.
