If you are looking to bring more spring into your home then this sweet flower lampshade embellishment will do the trick. The magnet makes the flower portable so that you can easily move it from room to room and lamp to lamp.
Bowdabra flower lampshade embellishment
Materials:
- Bowdabra bow maker
- Bowdabra bow wire
- 2” wide wired Green ribbon
- 2” wide wired pink ribbon
- Cabachon
- Heavy-duty magnet available at a home improvement store
- Felt scrap
- Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
Instructions:
First, Cut four 6-inch pieces of the green ribbon. Fold in half lengthwise and cut at an angle to make pointed ends. Cut 8 pieces of the pink ribbon each 5 “ long. Then cut the ends to a curve. Use a lighter to seal all the ends from fraying.
Next, cut a 20” piece of Bowdabra bow wire, fold in half and insert into the Bowdabra. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other side. Fold the excess wires under the Bowdabra to keep out the way while you are making the bow.
Make the flower
Begin by inserting the green ribbon pieces into the Bowdabra adjusting as you go. Then, insert all the pink pieces of ribbon right sides facing up. Scrunch down with the Bowdabra wand.
Now, insert the two loose ends through the loop and pull tight while the flower is still in the Bowdabra. Remove the flower and turn to the back and tie a knot. Finally, adjust the flower petals and leaves all around. For an added touch glue a cabochon to the center of the flower.
Add the magnet
To finish, Cut out four circles of felt about ½” wider than the magnets. Sandwich a magnet between two circles of felt and run a bead of hot glue all around to secure. Repeat with the second magnet. Using the glue gun attach one felt encased magnet to the back of the flower. Use one magnet inside the lampshade and attach the bow to the outside joining both magnets through the shade.
