Now, we’re going to make this last-minute plaid Christmas bow. You could use it for a tree topper, or for a gift wrap, or just décor around the house.
Dovetail your ribbon
I’m going to start by taking my Bowdabra Bow Wire, fold it in half, and lay it down into my Bowdabra. Then I tuck the ends underneath to stay out of the way while making my bow. Now, I have these two really pretty ribbons, which I’ve already dovetailed. (And in case you’re not sure how to dovetail, what you want to do is fold your ribbon in half and then just cut from the end into the fold at a diagonal) And that’s how you get these really cool pointed dovetailed ends.
So now I’m going to put the two ribbons together, and I’m going to just scrunch the middle and stick this down into my Bowdabra. So, these will be my tails. Now what I’ve done is taken the same two ribbons, put them together here, and I’m just going to twist it so that the wrong side of my red ribbon is on the inside of the bow. Then, I’m going to fold it back over, twist it, and I’m going to keep doing this. I’m going to fold and I’m going to twist. And again, I want to make sure that the wrong side of my ribbon is on the inside of my bow.
Then, I’m going to make just another loop here and make it a little bit smaller than that loop. And, I’m going to do exactly the same thing on this side and just scrunch my ribbon in.
Now, I have a little bit extra of a tail that I don’t need here, so I’m just going to cut that. I’ll take my Bowdabra wand and scrunch everything in.
Finishing your bow
Next, I’m going to take my Christmas pick and just lay that into my Bowdabra. I’m going to take my Bowdabra Bow Wire, that I folded it in half, so now, I have a slipknot. And I’m going to hold my bow down really tight while I pull my wire. Then, I’m going to pull my bow out. I’m going to separate the ends, bring it around to the back. I’m going to tie a knot and double-knot that.
And I’m going to leave this because I could tie it onto a wreath with my wire. And I’m just going to take my pick and kind of center it and bring my loops out, and do the same thing on this side, just kind of separate them a little bit. Now, you have this really pretty wreath bow, tree topper, or gift wrap bow.
