Create a beautiful Fall Swag Wreath using colors and textures of autumn in an array of bows, ribbon, sunflowers, and foliage! It’s a lovely way to welcome the arrival of Fall!
Fall Swag Wreath
Materials needed:
• 36″ teardrop beige swag
• Assorted ribbon – 2.5″-7/8″ widths
• Bowdabra and wand
• Bowdabra wire
• Sunflowers
• Craft scissors
Let’s begin by making a multi-ribbon bow. We will be using seven different types of ribbon. First, fold an 18″ piece of Bowdabra wire and place into the Bowdabra, tucking ends under. Next, cut 36″ lengths of each ribbon. Begin with the widest ribbon and crease one end and insert into the Bowdabra.
Make a large 5″ loop by folding the ribbon over, making a crease in the ribbon and press into the Bowdabra.
Next, fold the other side at the same width for the next loop, creasing ribbon down into the Bowdabra. Make two more loops by folding each side and creasing ribbon down into the Bowdabra.
Continue adding each ribbon, making large loops, as before.
For some patterns face up, you will need to fold and twist the ribbon down into the Bowdabra as you make the loops.
Be sure to scrunch down the ribbons along the way and when finished, using the Bowdabra wand.
While the bow is still in the Bowdabra, make a slip knot by taking the loose ends of the bow wire through the wire loop, pulling tight while gently pulling the bow out. Separate the wire around to the back, tying in a double knot.
Fluff and adjust the bow loops!
Use the bow wire to tie the bow onto the top portion of the swag.
Cut various lengths of matching ribbon for tails, pinching one side of ends. Tie together using bow wire, tying ends to a swag stem just under the bow.
Dovetail ribbon ends by folding together and cutting at an angle from the fold to the end. Attach sunflowers starting with the larger sizes and additional foliage using bow wire tied to the stems and arrange along the swag. Fill in with smaller flowers and foliage using bow wire.
And finally, roll the ends of the ribbon and arrange for a nice finished look!
