Materials:
(2) 2″ x 8.5″ Red Grosgrain Ribbon
1.5″ x 7.5″ Sheer Black Glittered Ribbon
1.5″ x 4.5″ Sheer Black Glittered Ribbon
1.5″ x 26″ Plaid Satin Ribbon
5″ x 5″ Red Glittered Tulle
Yellow Elastic Hair Tie
Glue Dots/Glue Gun
Now we’re going to make this really cool back to school ponytail holder. I’m going to start by taking my Bowdabra Bow Wire. I’ve folded it in half and I’m going to lay it into my Bowdabra. And I’m just going to tuck the ends underneath, so they stay out of my way.
Next thing I’m going to do is take my grosgrain ribbon, I’ve already dovetailed the ends, but to dovetail the ends, all you do is cut towards the crease. That gives you the nice dovetail. So, now I’m going to fold my ribbon in half and I’m just going to make a little mountain fold in the center of my grosgrain. That is what makes it shape so that you don’t have to sew.
Continue with the bow
Then I’m going to take this piece of ribbon. And I’m going to shape. Next, I’m going to make the little hair bow. I start by folding my ribbon in half. Now, this ribbon is the same on both sides, but if it weren’t, you would want the wrong side down. So, I’m going to do my little mountain crease and scrunch that into my Bowdabra.
I’m going to take my first ribbon, bring it around, and I’m going to scrunch that into the Bowdabra here. I’m going to then take this ribbon, make an x over the top, and bring this in here. To create the bow I’m going to take the ribbon that was on the bottom and make a loop. And I’m going to do the same thing with the ribbon that’s on the top.
Add the final touches
Finally, I’m going to take this piece of sparkly tulle and just scrunch that down into my Bowdabra.
Then, I’m going to take my wand, this is actually the Mini Bowdabra wand and scrunch down. I’m going to make the slipknot by pulling the ends of my Bowdabra Bow Wire through the loop. I hold my bow down while it’s still in the Bowdabra, and pull it really tight.
Remove your ponytail holder from the Bowdabra
To finish, I’m going to bring it out, separate the ends and bring them around to the back and tie a knot. I Take this ribbon, and I’m just going to triple it. I’m going to take a little bit of glue. I’m going to take this here, wrap it, you have to hold that for a second to let the glue dry. Take another glue dot here. And this time, I actually can cheat, because I can take my Bowdabra Bow Wire and tie my piece of ribbon down so the glue on the tie will hold it really tight. I’m going to knot it. Then I’m going to take my ponytail holder, tie this onto my very cool back to school ponytail holder. And you have an absolutely beautiful bow.
