Your hostess will adore this sweet gift and although she can hang it on her wall or door, it makes a great table decoration as well! Couldn’t more perfect!
Materials:
This project is going to be really fun. This beautiful Bowdabra Thanksgiving wreath is perfect for fall decor. I’m making this as a hostess gift for someone when I’m going to their house for Thanksgiving dinner.
So, the first thing I do is I take my wreath, which is about 9″ in diameter. I actually bought this wreath at the dollar store, so it was very cheap. And what I did is I took my Bowdabra Bow Wire, folded it in half and just slipped it under the wreath. I’m going to tie this here because this is going to help anchor my pick on. And you’ll want to do this first. First, put the wire at two different anchor points for your pick. This will make sure it’s going to stay on.
Now, I’m going to put the pick aside, and I’ve already put this wire here. Next, what I’m going to do is take this mesh, which comes in the rolls like this. And I’m going to just wrap my mesh around and just continue wrapping until I’ve covered the entire wreath.
Now, by the magic of video, I have one already covered. And so, the next step that I’m going to do is I’m going to take my pick and I’m going to take the wire that I’ve already put on here, and I’m going to grab a piece of the wire and anchor it. When I anchor it, won’t even see it. And I’m just going to bring it around to the back, and just twist it and tie a little knot. So, that way it’s going to stay. I don’t need the ends so I’m just going to clip those off.
Then the next thing that I’m going to do is I’m working this around so it’s going to be like really pretty on my wreath. And now I’m going to take my other piece of wire and I’m just going to anchor this as well. I’m a little concerned that may not be anchored well enough, so I’m going to bring it a little higher. And I’m not worried about this being seen because I’m going to make a bow. Then I’m going to twist it and then tie my knot.
Next, I’m going to make a bow that’s going to cover the wire and the stick, so you’re not even going to see it. So, I’ll double knot that. So, I’ll just clip the ends here. It is so pretty by itself right now, but I’m going to make it even prettier and I’m going to make a bow
So, I’m going to take my trusty Bowdabra and I’m going to grab my Bowdabra Bow Wire and fold it in half and lay that down into the Bowdabra. And I just tuck the ends it under so it stays out of my way. Then, I’ve already dovetailed the ends of this one, but I’m going to dovetail the other at the end, so I’ll show you how I do that.
First thing I’m going to do is just twist my ribbon. And I’m going to fold it and twist again. Remember the reason we twist, because we want to make sure that the wrong side of the ribbon is on the inside of the loops. Now, for this one, I’m actually going to make my middle, a little bit smaller. So, it’s probably about two fingers smaller. This is going to add a little dimension to our wreath.
So, now like to just clip the middle, it’s what we call our mountain-up, and just push that in there. And I’m going to cut this piece of ribbon off. To make the dovetail, what I’m doing here is I fold it in half and cut towards the fold. And that’s my dovetail.
The next thing that I’m going to do is I’m going to take these picks because they match my wreath and add them. I always take old picks and I just cut them up. Since there’s green in here, I want to just bring out the green. So, I take these two little green balls, or little ornament things, and put them in here.
Finally, I take my Bowdabra wand and just scrunch everything down. Then I’m going to take my wire, and again, I have a slipknot. I’m going to bring the two ends through here. So, I’m holding my bow tight while it’s still in the Bowdabra. This way, when I pull it out, I’ll separate the ends, bring it around to the back, and I’m going to double-knot it.
Then, what I’m going to do is I’m just going to kind of bring my tails down and fluff the loops. To finish, I bring my little green things up here so you can see them. And now I’m going to take back my wreath. And I’m going to tie my bow right over here. So, let’s just bring that here. And I’m going to just tie it on, tie a knot and clip my ends. And now I’m just going to shape my bow and make sure that everything on my wreath is perfect so that I have an absolutely beautiful Bowdabra Thanksgiving wreath hostess gift.
