Create a fun, super easy patriotic korker bow on a matching no-sew t-shirt turban twist headband. Everyone loves dressing up for a holiday celebration and this is the perfect hair accessory for kids or grown-ups alike to compliment their patriotic outfits. Such an easy Turban style, red, white and blue headband that’s great for any patriotic celebration. You can use it for the Fourth of July, however, it’s also great for Memorial Day, Flag Day and throughout the summer, too! So, show off your patriotic spirit by making this adorable patriotic korker bow turban twist no-sew t-shirt headband.
Here’s how:
Materials Needed:
• T-Shirt – XLarge
• Ruler
• Scissors
• Assorted 3/8″ and 3/16″ ribbon
• Dowel rods
• Wooden clothespins
• Cookie sheet, parchment paper
• Mini Bowdabra, Hair Bow Tool and Ruler
• Flame heat for sealing
To Make the Turban Twist Headband: First, lay your t-shirt out flat. Then, cut off the hem and then measure 8 inches from edge and cut piece out in a continuous circle or tube.
Now, stretch the tube, twisting the middle into a figure eight.
Twist center again and fold together, matching openings . . .
and ta da!
The no-sew t-shirt turban twist headband is ready to wear!
To make the Korker Bow: Begin by placing the ribbon on the end of a dowel rod at an angle and securing with a clothespin. Wrap the ribbon around the dowel until reaching the end, cut off ribbon and secure with another clothespin.
Continue wrapping assorted ribbon around dowel rods and place on parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake at 250 Degrees for 20 minutes and remove from oven and let cool.
Carefully remove ribbon from rods by gently unwinding or sliding them off to show off the korker ribbon.
Using the Mini Bowdabra hair bow tool and ruler, measure the korker ribbon at the 2 inch marks at both sides and cut off for a four inch korker ribbon. Repeat cutting for all the korker ribbon into four inch lengths, leaving one korker ribbon intact for bow tying. Seal the ends with heat from a flame or nail polish.
Place the full length korker ribbon down into the Mini Bowdabra. This will be used to tie.
Arrange the four inch korker ribbon randomly down into the Mini Bowdabra.
Scrunch down the korker rods using the Mini Bowdabra wand once satisfied with korker fullness.
Pick up the ends of the longer korker ribbon and tie into a tight knot and knot again and remove.
Look how adorable it looks!
To complete the look, using the longer korker ribbon, tie the korker bow onto the center headband twist.
