So, now what I’m going to do is show you how to make what people call either a graduated or butterfly bow. And I’m going to use this beautiful silver and white ribbon.
So, the first thing I’m going to do is take my Bowdabra Bow Wire, fold it in half and just lie that down into my Bowdabra. Now for those of you that haven’t seen the Bowdabra before, there are springs underneath here so that it automatically adjusts to exactly what I’m putting in.
Now, what I’m going to do is twist my ribbon so that the wrong side is up. Then I’m going to fold it back in and twist it, because I want the wrong side up again. So, it’s basically just fold and twist, like with our fold and twist bows.
Now I’m not measuring this, so what I want to do is make sure that my two loops are pretty much the same size. So, I’ll make this one a little bit smaller.. They are probably, I would say, about six inches. Then, I’m going to twist this, put it in, and again, I’m going to measure to make sure they’re the same.
The next step is a little bit easier, because now I’m going to fold it back and I’m just going to graduate it down. So, you’re about maybe an inch smaller. Then I’m going to twist it and I’m going to do the same thing on the other side. It’s about an inch smaller. And it doesn’t have to be exact. Now, I’m going to do it again, and twist, and then finish it up here.
I’m going to take my wire, pull it tight while it’s still in the Bowdabra. Then I’ll separate the ends, bring it around to the back and tie it off. So then I’m just going to shape my loops. And I’m going to actually cut this little piece because we don’t need it in there. So this is how you make a graduated bow.
