Quick hostess gift

“Hi! What I’m going to do today is make a really quick, easy, last minute hostess gift or holiday gift. This one, I’m making more like a Christmas or a winter holiday, but all you need to do is to change your gift bag into a different color and it can work for any time of the year.

The first thing I did was I took a square of tissue paper and put that down into my bag. Now, I folded another square, and I’m just going to push this down into my gift bag. And I love this idea for holidays, and what I do is I’ll go and buy bulk of candies and then just throw them into my bag. It makes a really a really simple kind of last-minute gift. And just depending on the size of your bag is how much candy you put in. Now I’ll just kind of fold the top over here. Actually, I’ll fold up this side first, and I’m just going to kind of put that aside and put that over here.

Now make your Bowdabra bow

Next I’m going to take my Bowdabra and I have my ribbon and my Bowdabra Bow Wire, which I’ve folded in half. And I’m just going to lie that down into my Bowdabra. I’ve tucked the ends underneath to keep them out of the way. I’m going to take my ribbon, and these are about 12″ long, and I have already dovetailed the ends. To dovetail, you’re just going to cut away from the fold down towards the end of the ribbon and you have a perfect dovetail on a piece of ribbon.

Then I’m going to fold it in half to find my center. And I’m just going to crease the center like this. So just fold. I’ll hold it a bit and then push that down into my Bowdabra. For my next piece of ribbon, which I’ve already cut and dovetailed, and lay that into the Bowdabra and do the same thing, fold it in half, find the middle and just sort of scrunch up the top. The reason I scrunch it like that is because I think it lays better in the Bowdabra. So, I’m going to take another, and this is just a fabulously easy bow you can make using scraps of ribbon.

I have this 1 1/2″ ribbon that also matches, and I think I cut these about 9 1/2″ long. I’m just going to scrunch it in the middle, so you can see how I’m doing that. Next I fold that in. Now, I’m taking these little picks and just laying them down into my Bowdabra. And I’m going to just scrunch everything down with my wand. I’m going to now take my bow wire, and I’m going to take the two ends and I’m going to pull them through my slipknot, hold my bow in the Bowdabra and pull it really tight. Then, I’m going to separate the ends, bring it around to the back and tie it off and knot it so it stays together.

Finishing your bow

To finish, I’m going to just try to shape it a little bit. There’s not much shaping to do because I pretty much laid it in the Bowdabra the way that I wanted. Then, I’m going to take my gift bag and I’m going to just tie my bow onto the bag. And you have an absolutely beautiful and quick hostess gift that took minutes to make.
