Bowdabra creator Sandy Sandler shows you how to make a quick and easy double ribbon cheer bow using two different color ribbons in one step!
Football season is in full swing and you can make this double ribbon cheer bow so fast with the Bowdabra that you will want to make a bunch! You even use the Bowdabra to attach the bow to the ponytail holder as you make your bow. How is that for quick and easy?
Cheer bows sell very well at Craft shows and you can make this double ribbon cheer bow in any color combination you choose.
Materials
“Well, it’s football season again, so I think we need to make a football cheer bow. So what I’m going to do is take my Mini Bowdabra, my Bowdabra Hair Bow Tool and Ruler, which is great. It fits right over the Mini Bowdabra and it allows it to still function with the springs, but it let’s me measure.
So the first thing I’m going to do is take my Bowdabra bow wire, fold it in half, and lay it down into the Bowdabra. and then I just tuck it underneath so it stays out of my way. Then I’m going to take my ponytail holder, lay that into the Bowdabra.
And then I’m going to take my brown ribbon and a football ribbon, and just dovetail the ends. Then I’ll take my lighter and kind of sear the ends so that it’s sealed. I already did that on the other side.
So now I’m going to fold my ribbon in half and I’m going to do what we call a mountain-up crease. I’m just going to pinch the middle and then push it down into the Bowdabra. And then I’m going to take my other piece of ribbon and scrunch this down into the Bowdabra with my little crease.
And I’m going to measure here. I love the Bowdabra because it lets me layer the ribbon easier. So then I’m going to bring this here and measure how big my loops are going to be. So now I’ve measured. I want them to be three inches because we’re going to make this big bow, and then now—
So this is tucked under here, and then now I take this ribbon, I’m just going to even this out here, and scrunch this down into the Bowdabra, or my crease, and take my wand and just push everything down, and I’m actually a little bit uneven here, so let’s even these loops out.
Then I’m going to take my Bowdabra bow wire and pull it through my hairband and bring that through, hold everything down, pull it really tight while it’s still in the Bowdabra, separate my ends, bring them around to the back.
And again, I’m going to bring my wire through the ponytail holder and just tie a knot. Then cut the wire. And actually, let’s trim this down in here, and a little also here and there.
And you have a great football cheer bow that took seconds to make, or maybe minutes. There you go.”
