Watch Sandy Sandler, the creator of the Bowdabra, create really cute Gold lace vintage bridal headband. This fabulous vintage headband is so easy to make!!
Today we’re going to make a really cute vintage. Vintage is so in, so we’re going to make a really cute vintage hair bow, and we’re going to put it on a headband. And I’m going to start with my mini Bowdabra, and then I take my Bowdabra hair bow tool and ruler, lay it over it. Then I’ll take my Bowdabra bow wire, fold it in half, and lay it down into the Bowdabra.
And I’m just going to tuck it underneath so it stays out of my way when I’m making my bow. Then what I do is take my ribbon and my lace, and just make what we call our mountain up crease. Then I’m going to stick it down. This is great because it allows you to make a really awesome hair bow without having to sew.
Now I’m going to take some gold tulle, and I’m just going to scrunch the tulle down into my Bowdabra. I’ll just do this really quickly. And I just—basically what I do is center the tulle and scrunch it down. And then I’ll take my wand and just scrunch everything down into my Bowdabra.
Then what I’m going to do is I have another piece of ribbon and I have another piece of lace, and I’m just going to lay my lace over my ribbon. Then I’m going to take just a small part and I’m going to just lay this, crease it and lay it down into my mini Bowdabra, and I’m going to take it now and circle it back and just make another crease into my mini Bowdabra.
So I’m just going to double-check, because I want each of the loops to go to the 1 ½ inch marker, and these do. So now I’m just going to make a crease here and scrunch everything into the Bowdabra. I’m going to take my wand and just push everything down.
Then I’m going to take my wire and I’m going to put my wire through the loop, which is why—so now we have a slipknot, which is why I folded it in half to begin with. Pull it really tight. Separate the ends. Bring it around to the back and I’m going to tie a knot. So I have to tie it off, and then now we’ll tie a knot to make sure it’s secure.
Now you could tie this onto a barrette, and we show you how to do that in our book that comes with the hair bow tool and ruler. But what I’m going to do is I’m going to take my bow, and I’m going to go—on the headbands, there’s this place here where you have the band. So I think that’s a really good place where it’s sewn together.
So what I’m going to do here is I’m just going to thread my wire through the headband, and bring it back through here. And then bring my bow and I’m just going to tie a knot. So this way the knot is on the outside of the headband so you won’t feel it when it’s against your head. And we have an absolutely—oh, and I’m going to cut the ends. I almost forgot. And cut this wire here.
And now we have an absolutely beautiful gold lace vintage bridal headband!!
