Spring Door Wreath with Bowdabra bow

Spring door wreath

It’s almost Spring and what better time to spruce up your front door with a Spring door wreath?  You’ve heard the famous Bowdabra saying, “Everything looks better with a bow!!” Well, I’m here to show you one of the ways it truly does!
It started with a blank slate or should I say a blank basket:

and then I added lots of pansies and hung it on my door. But something was missing . . .

oh, a pretty bow, that’s what!
So, I got out :  my Bowdabra, bow wire, wand and two kinds of ribbon (one narrower than the other) to make a very pretty bow

And this is what I did:
First, cut an 18″ piece of Bowdabra bow wire and fold it in half and place in the Bowdabra.

After deciding the length of the ribbon tail, cut two pieces of ribbon, centering the smaller on top and placing both into the Bowdabra.

Fold the ribbons making a loop, twisting the ribbons facing down and insert into the Bowdabra.

Repeat this step and you now have a loop on each side of the Bowdabra.

Scrunch down the ribbons with the Bowdabra wand.

While the bow is still in the Bowdabra, lift up the bow wire loop that’s on one end and the two loose pieces on the other end, threading the loose ends through the loop. Pull the bow wire tightly and gently pull the bow out. Separate the bow wire ends around to the back, tying in a knot to secure.

Dovetail the larger ribbon ends by folding in half and with scissors, cut on an angle at the folded edge to the ribbon end.  Fortunately, this ribbon fabric  won’t fray and doesn’t need to be sealed.

Fluff and shape the bow.

Secure the bow on the basket using the bow wire, and if needed, fluff the finished pretty bow again.

Now, place your lovely arrangement  on the door and stand back to admire!

Oh, yes! This basket Spring door wreath looks so much better with a Bowdabra bow!
