Tis the season for holiday house parties and you sure don’t want to go empty handed. Why not create a party wine bottle hostess gift you can make and feel good about giving? Let me show you two cute ways to decorate wine bottles for gift giving. First, let’s wrap a wine bottle for that special New Years party. This is a quick and easy way to decorate a wine bottle that only takes a few minutes to do.
Materials needed:
Wine bottle
Bowdabra bow maker, Bowdabra bow wire and wand
21″ wide mesh ribbon – 1 yard
Assorted decorative ribbons
Mesh tubing
Scissors
Ruler
Let’s start by making the bow first.
Cut an 18″ piece of Bowdabra wire, fold in half and insert into the Bowdabra, tucking ends under.
Next, cut 24 inches of 5 1/2″ wide mesh ribbon, bringing ends together forming loops. Grasp the center and place into the Bowdabra.
Then take 2.5″ wide wired ribbon (1yd or more), folding it to make a loop and press into the Bowdabra. Continue folding the ribbon back and forth until you have created at least four loops on each side.
Do the same for each decorative ribbon, scrunching down after inserting.
Cut various lengths of mesh tubing and insert into the Bowdabra.
Scrunch all the ribbon down using the Bowdabra wand.
While the bows are still in the Bowdabra, thread the two loose ends of the bow wire through the loop and pull the wire tightly. Gently pull the bow out of the Bowdabra, separating the wires and tying in a knot in the back.
Next, place the wine bottle in the center of a yard of 21″ wide mesh ribbon, making sure the ends are curling under, as pictured.
Pull the deco mesh up around wine bottle, adjusting folds and gathering around top.
Attach the Bowdabra bow to the top of the bottle by wrapping the Bowdabra wire around the mesh and tying in a knot. Cut off excess wire, fluff bows and you’re done!
How pretty!
For an extra indulgent gift, make a cute faux fur wrapped wine bottle using ribbon, faux fur fabric, glue and your Bowdabra.
and begin wrapping the bottle with ribbon strips, gluing ends together in the center.
Cut small strips of faux fur, wrap around neck area and glue.
Measure down the center, cut a faux strip the length and glue on.
To make hat, cut off bottom of an empty pill bottle . . .
glue on ribbon around top and sides, then glue on faux strips around bottom of top and bottom of bottle.
Place a strip of ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra and fold a small strip of faux fur into the Bowdabra. Grasp the ends of the ribbon, tying into a tight knot around the faux fur for a cute little bow.
Glue on the small faux bow at the top to center.
How cute is this!
Your handcrafted wine bottle is now very festive, and very trendy as a lovely hostess gift!
Have fun and keep crafting using your Bowdabra during this holiday season!
