The other day while strolling through the seasonal section of my local grocery store I saw some large holiday bows. Each individual decorative bow was upwards of $10!!! Bows are so popular to use on packages, trees, wreaths and more and are quite costly.
I couldn’t believe that price when with the Bowdabra you can create similar bows for less than a third of that price—in minutes. So I thought I would create a couple large bow tutorials. Although it’s early in December all the craft stores have already discounted their seasonal ribbons!
You can use the bow wire to attach the holiday bow or alternately use a hot glue gun or packaging tape. Considering the usual price stores are asking for these bows, when you attach them to a gift, they can be a gift in itself and used over and over again.
Supplies:
Gold Gift bow
- Bowdabra Bow maker
- Bowdabra bow wire
- 3 yards Printed seasonal ribbon 2 ½” wide wired (with a right and wrong side)
- Jingle bells, gold and silver
Instructions:
- Gather your supplies. Cut a six-inch piece of bow wire and thread on silver jingle bells. Tie a knot at the top. Repeat with 3 gold jingle bells. Set aside.
- Cut a 24-inch piece of Bowdabra bow wire, fold in half and insert into the Bowdabra bow maker. You will have a loop on one side and two loose wires on the other.
- Insert the ribbon printed side down and make a loop. Twist the ribbon so that this loop will right side and make a matching loop. Continue making loops twisting as you insert the ribbon into the Bowdabra on both sides until you have 5 loops on each side. Make the last two loops slightly smaller than the others.
- Insert a group of jingle bells, one on each side.
- Scrunch down with the Bowdabra wand.
- Insert the two loose wire ends through the loop and while the bow is still in the Bowdabra pull tight.
- Remove the bow from the Bowdabra and tie a knot in the back. Pull all the loops out and adjust your bow. Attach to wreaths, packages and more.
