You know I love to decorate my door for each season. I change the wreaths and swags often. Fall is such a busy time. One minute It’s Labor Day, you turn around, and before you know it Halloween is sneaking up on you with Thanksgiving close behind. And look out because here comes Christmas! It’s so busy in the fall when school is in full swing and there are tons of festivals and events to attend that I like to combine the décor for Halloween and Thanksgiving. That way it stays up longer! You can make this quick (and I mean quick) and easy Autumn twig broom swag door décor in just a few minutes with a leaf garland and some fall picks. Add a beautiful burlap bow that you create with the Bowdabra bow maker for the perfect final touch. Supplies:
- Decorator twig broom for crafting
- Fall leaf garland
- 1 ½” wide wired burlap ribbon
- 2 fall floral picks
- 12-gauge wire
- Wire cutters
- Needle nosed pliers
- Glue gun and hot glue sticks
- Bowdabra bow maker
- Bowdabra bow wire
Directions:
- Turn your twig broom to the back and lay it flat on your work surface. Cut an 8-inch piece of 12-gauge wire with wire cutters. Insert into the top back of the broom bending into a loop for hanging your broom swag. Use the needle nosed pliers to secure.
- Secure one end of the leaf garland to the top of the broom and wind around the length vertically spacing evenly. When you reach the wider end weave the leaves in and out and secure with some hot glue if necessary.
- Add some hot glue to the ends of each floral pick and insert into the wider area on each side. Fluff out the leaves.
- To make the bow, cut an 18” piece of Bowdabra bow wire, fold in half and insert into the Bowdabra bow maker. You will have a loop on one side and two pieces of wire on the other.
- Cut a 58” piece of 1 ½” wide wired burlap ribbon. Insert into the Bowdabra. Make a loop on one side and a matching loop on the other side.
- Continue making loops until you have four loops on each side.
- Scrunch down with the Bowdabra wand.
- Insert the two loose wires through the loop and while the bow is still in the bow maker pull tight. Remove the bow, turn to the back and tie a knot.
- Fluff up and arrange the loops on the bow. The little piece sticking in the middle resembles a flower center.
- Add some hot glue to the stem of the swag and also using the excess bow wire tie the bow onto the swag.
