Hi! I’m Noreen, visiting from Crafty Journal. I am so excited to be a designer for Bowdabra! I have had the opportunity to try the Bowdabra, learning to make lovely bows to use in my project. Here is a fun and easy Valentine craft I created.
You can easily create this beautiful Valentine Ribbon Pouch Banner with no sewing or glue.
The pouches are quick to make, and you can add any message you like. You will just need more pouches for a longer message.
Supplies
2 1/4 to 2 1/2 inch wide See Through Wire Edged Ribbon
Gold Cord
Scissors
Ruler
White Paper or Card Stock
Black Marker
First Make the Pouches.
1. Cut a piece of 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 inch wide ribbon 7 1/2 inches long.
2. Turn one end of the ribbon to the wrong side about 1/4 inch. Use your thumbnail to crease the ribbon in between the wires.
Repeat with the other end.
3. To make the pouch, fold one end toward the other about 3 inches from the end (so the pocket part will be about 3 inches high).
4. Fold the other end down for the top of the pouch.
Don’t fold the top down so far that it will cover too much of the pouch – you need to be able to see through the pouch to read the message.
Work with the wires along the edges a little till they are straight and stay nicely together.
5. Cut pieces of white paper or card stock that are 2 1/4 inches high by 2 inches wide.
Write your message on these papers.
and insert them into the pouches.
Make the Bows.
I used beautiful 2 1/4 inch wide ribbon that was sent to me by Bowdabra.
And I used the Bowdabra tool, following the easy instructions that came with it, to make these bows.
How to Hang the Valentine Ribbon Pouch Banner.
I used thin gold cord to hang the banner. I would have used thicker cord, but I couldn’t find any.
I used 3 strands of the gold cord by folding it back and forth so there’s a loop and cord end on each side, and taped the cords together at each end.
The wire ties used to make the bows can be used to fasten the ends of the hanging cord to the bows.
Or use the cord ends to attach the bows.
Open the pouches and place the cord at the top of the inside of the pouches.
Close the pouch to hold the cord in place.
The banner is ready to be hung.
Tips.
You can use ribbon that is opaque, and write a hidden message to put in the pouch.
