Repurposed Christmas Dress with Matching Bow

Find a dress that you don’t love the trim on and re-purpose it for the Holidays. I didn’t love the lace appliqué on this basic black Repurposed Christmas Dress with Matching Bowdress so I chose to add sparkle red and make it a gorgeous Christmas dress. Then I was able to use the same materials I added to the dress in the bow to make a perfect match. Find the materials that match just right and start the fun.

To make this bow you will need:
· Mini Bowdabra
· Hair Bow Tool and Ruler
· Bowdabra Bow Wire
· Sparkle Tulle (6 inch spool), 6 ”œ piece
· 2- 5” pieces of 1.5”œ Black Grosgrain Ribbon, dove-tailed
· 1.5” Sparkle Wire-Edge Ribbon
· ½” Checkered Ribbon
· Decorative Flower for Dress
· Alligator Clip (NOTE: For more active girls, you can use a clip that locks in place)
· Hot Glue

Instructions:

1. Start by finding a dress that you want to re-purpose the trim.

2. Remove the trim you will not be using.

3. Scrunch and Sew Sparkle Tulle onto dress.

4. Add decorative flower.

5. Next, place the Hair Bow Tool & Ruler on top of the Mini Bowdabra. Cut a piece of 18”³ Bowdabra Bow Wire, fold it in half and place it into the Bowdabra.

6. Then put a 6” piece of the sparkle tulle in the mini Bowdabra. Scrunch with fingers.

7. Place the 2 Pre-cut and Dove-tailed pieces of black Grosgrain in the Mini Bowdabra in a cross.

8. Next, following the instructions on the Interactive CD, that comes with the Hair Bow Tool & Ruler, make 4” wide boutique bow using 1.5”œ sparkle wire edge ribbon. Leave Tails. Scrunch with Bowdabra Wand.

9. Using ½ ”œ Checkered Ribbon, make a triple loop 3” bow leaving tails. Dove tail and fray check tails. Scrunch with Bowdabra Wand.

10. While the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra, thread the two loose ends of the Bowdabra Bow Wire through the loop at the other end. Pull the Bowdabra Bow Wire tightly while the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra. Gently pull the bow out of the Mini Bowdabra. Separate the two loose ends of the Bowdabra Bow Wire and bring them around to the back of the bow. To tie off the bow, pinch the Bowdabra Bow Wire securely against the bow and double knot. DO NOT TRIM EXTRA WIRE!

11. Tie 2 more pieces of Silver Bowdabra wire around center.

12. Trim tails of the red sparkle ribbon.

13. Tie a loose knot with sparkle tulle. Set aside.

14. Prepare bow to have knot glued on by positioning ribbon exactly where you want it and hold it with one hand. With the other hand do a glue dab on the top and both sides of the bow. Place prepared knot over middle and side of bow and press. Then, trim one side of knot and glue to back of bow. Glue the other side to back of bow and trim extra tulle.

15. Hold alligator clip open (to ensure clip not getting glue on the inside) and glue top of it. Then press to back of bow. (Please note: You can line the clip with ribbon, but I prefer not to. The clip stays in hair better without being lined and the clip does not show in this particular bow)

16. Trim edges of Tulle in a rounded fashion if desired.

17. Curl Bowdabra wire with a pen or pencil.

18. Your bow is ready to wear!

BONUS: You can make two for a pig tails look. This Christmas Dress with matching bow will help make her Christmas special!
