Use recycled materials to make these Christmas Tree Ornaments. I know that it is only July but is the perfect time to start
To make these Christmas Ornaments you will need metal jar lids (we used covers from spaghetti sauce jars), last year’s Christmas Cards, and scrap ribbon.
First begin by tracing a circle onto last year’s Christmas card. Cut the circle out and using Glue Dots attach the circle to the front of the lid. Next, tie ribbon around the edge of the lid and knot it at the top. Leave ribbon tails and seal the ends with clear nail polish to keep it from fraying. Make several ornaments.
To create the bows:
- First begin by placing the metric side of the Hair Bow Tool & Ruler onto the Mini Bowdabra. Next, cut a piece of 18? Bowdabra Bow Wire and fold it in a half and place it into the Mini Bowdabra.
- Place the end of the ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra.
- Create your first loop by folding and pressing the ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra at the 3cm mark.
- Continue folding and pressing the ribbon. Fold a 3cm loop on the other side and then follow it with a 2cm loop on each side.
- Cut the ribbon from the spool leaving a small tail.
Finish the bow:
- Scrunch the bow down with the Mini Bowdabra Wand.
- While the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra, thread the two loose ends of the Mini Bowdabra Bow Wire through the loop at the other end.
- Pull the Bowdabra Bow Wire tightly while the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra.
- Gently pull the bow out of the Mini Bowdabra. Separate the two loose ends of the Bowdabra Bow Wire and bring them around to the back of the bow and knot.
- To hide the Bowdabra Bow Wire fold the small ribbon tail over and glue dot it in place.
- Make several bows to attach to your recycled “green” Christmas Tree Ornaments. Tie the Bowdabra Bow Wire around the ribbon knot and use the remaining wire to hang the ornament.
- Hang the recycled Christmas ornaments on your tree, give them as gifts, or use them as gift tags for Christmas presents.
