One way to save money on your wedding is to design and make your own wedding invitations. Invitations should fit the style of your wedding.
The invitation that our Bowdabra Design Team designed is for an outdoor style garden wedding. However, regardless of the theme using a sheer Mini Bowdabra Bow is the perfect accent to any wedding invitation. Sheer ribbon is light-weight, holds its shape well, and will not be bulky in an envelope.
Begin by designing your card layout. Once you have created your layout choose a coordinating sheer ribbon color. Add a strand of ribbon along the front of your card layout. Bowdabra’s Ribbon Crafts & Things Store has a huge selection of sheer ribbon colors that are perfect for all your card making needs.
To make a Mini Bowdabra Bow (optional: Place your Mini Bowdabra Tool & Ruler over the Mini Bowdabra) cut a piece of 24? Bowdabra Bow Wire. Fold the Bowdabra Bow Wire in half and place it into the Mini Bowdabra.
Next, cut a piece of sheer ribbon 4? long and dovetail the ends. Run clear nail polish along the edges of the cuts to keep the sheer ribbon from fraying. Place the ribbon into the center of the Mini Bowdabra. Again, seal the end of the ribbon with clear nail polish and lay the ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra. To make your first loop fold and press the ribbon into the Mini Bowdabra at the 1.5? mark. Make another 1.5? loop on the other side. Next, make two more loops at the 1? mark. Cut the ribbon from the spool, leaving about a half an inch.
Scrunch ribbon down with the Mini Bowdabra Wand.
While the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra, thread the two loose ends of the Bowdabra Bow Wire through the loop at the other end. Pull the Bowdabra Bow Wire tightly while the bow is still in the Mini Bowdabra.
Gently pull the bow out of the Mini Bowdabra. Separate the two loose ends of the BowdabraBow Wire and bring them around to the back of the bow. To tie off the bow, pinch the BowdabraBow Wire securely against the bow. Twist the bow 4 to 6 times in a clockwise direction.
Using the Bowdabra Bow Wire attach the ribbon to the ribbon strand on the front of the card.
Add a tag and charm to the bottom of the bow using the Bowdabra Bow Wire. Finish the card by spiraling the Bowdabra Bow Wire around a thin paint brush handle for fun ringlets.
Include wedding details and RSVP information in the inside of the card.
